Minisink Valley Historical Society, Port Jervis, New York. 2002 “Hearth and Home: Cooking in the 18th Century” - Sought funding, designed and constructed a major exhibition on the history of the Society's museum. Minisink Valley Historical Society, Port Jervis, New York. 2002 “Minisink Battleground Reinterpretation Project” - Designed and constructed new visitor's center exhibit, park brochure, interpretive waysides and battleground trail. 2006 In addition, I have designed various furniture, seasonal and traveling exhibits for the Minisink Valley Historical Society's Fort Decker and for special art exhibitions for the City of Port Jervis in its Municipal Buildings and interpretive way sides in the city and on the New York State Thruway (Route 84 Overlook, Port Jervis). RESTORATION AND REHABILITATION PROJECTS The Fort Deckler Museum of History (1760) Oversaw the exterior resotration of Revolutionary War structure including new roof, masonry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security systems, exhibitry and ADA access. 1981-2009 The Robert Kleinstuber House (1892) Oversaw the exterior renovation of a Victorian period house owned by the Minisink Valley Historical Society, including planning, financing, construction work and painting. April-July 1983 & September-October 1994. Oversaw the interior renovations, November 1999 The Forestburgh Log Cabin (c. 1820) Oversaw the dismantling, moving and reconstruction of a 19th century log cabin in the Town of Forestburgh, New York. Winner of the Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance's 1983 Preservation Award. November 1982-August 1983. The Port Jervis Erie Depot (1892) Served as chairman of the community's effort to purchase and restore the former depot currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Effected the purchase by raising $50,000 and developed initial feasibility plans, logos, fund raising and restoration plans. Oversaw UDAG application process and development of plans and specifications for the project including the receipt of $165,000 in state funds. Assisted in creating the partnership between the Depot Preservation Society and the Port Jervis Development Corporation that completed the restoration at a cost of $1,000,000. Designed museum room and exhibits for Depot Preservation Society. Winner of the 1990 Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance's Preservation Award and the Chamber of Commerce's Community Pride Award. January 1984-September 1990. Port Jervis Erie Railroad Turntable (c. 1892) Worked on the committee that oversaw the renovation of a railroad turntable owned by the City of Port Jervis for active use by steam excursion trips including planning, financing, construction work and painting. 1996. Winner of the 1996 Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance's Preservation Award Minisink Battleground Park Reinterpretation Project Served as the consultant to Sullivan County, New York in creating a new interpretive program for the only Revolutionary War battle to place in the Upper Delaware River valley in 1779. Created new park brochure, new exhibits for the visitor center, new battleground trail and interpretive waysides. SPECIAL PROJECTS Arbor Day Served as chairman of the community's effort to plant 300 trees around the city of Port Jervis, New York. 1987-2003, assisted with efforts 2004-2008 Flag Day Served as chairman of the community's effort to commemorate Flag Day annually in the city of Port Jervis, New York. 1987-2003, assisted with efforts 2004-2007 Independence Day Program Served as chairman of the community's effort to commemorate Independence Day annually in the city of Port Jervis, New York. 1999-2008 Delaware River Heritage Trail Served as chairman of the community's effort to construct a 5-mile trail passing by all of the city's historic sites. 1992 and 1996 Korea War & Vietnam War Memorials Served as chairman of the community's effort to erect two memorials for the city's veteran's park. Effected the purchase by raising $6,000 and developed initial feasibility plans, fund raising and installation plans. 1996 Elks-Brox Memorial Park Renovations Spearheaded community's effort to reopen a park that had been closed for a decade and had been built in part by the Civilian Conservation Corps. in the 1930s. Effected the project and developed initial feasibility plans, fund raising and restoration plans. 1996 Mahackamack Graveyard Coordinated community effort to restore 18th century graveyard owned by Deerpark Reformed Church and developed initial feasibility and restoration plans. 1997 & 1998 D & H Canal and Gravity Railroad Centennial Symposium Served as co-chairman of first national symposium on the D & H Canal and Gravity Railroad and first bicycle trek along the entire route. 1998. 1st National Cuddeback Family Reunion Served as coordinator of first national family reunion. July 1999. Delaware & Hudson Canal Heritage Trail Served as chairman of the community's effort to construct a 5-mile trail passing long the former route of the canal in the city of Port Jervis which also created the first and only total handicapped accessible section of canal along its entire route. 2000-2003 Constructed new interpretive signboard at trail head. 2003. Redesiged and upgraded entire trail including complete ADA access. 2006. Upper Delaware Scenic Byway - New York State Route 97 Served as City of Port Jervis's representative to create a vision and subsequent enhancement plan to create a New York State Byway on New York State Route 97 that runs from Port Jervis to Hancock, New York. I was the incorporator of the scenic byway corporation and served as chairman of the byway dedication ceremony in 2002 and served as the corporation's treasurer. 2000-2008. War on Terrorism Memorial Served on committee to erect a memorials for the city's veteran's park. Developed initial feasibility plans, installation plans and served as master of ceremonies. 2004. Nature’s Keepers Director’s Cut Served as the narrative voice for a movie about the conservation efforts being undertaken in Pike County, Pennsylvania. 2007. Voorhees & Hacklebarney State Park CCC Memorial Co-chaired a fundraising event to design and install a CCC bas-relief memorial at the Voorhees State Park Visitor Center. 2007 A Day in the Life of Port Jervis - July 26, 2007 A Film By Jason Randolph Executive Producer of film by Jason Randolph and coordinator of effort to record the day that the city celebrated its centennial. Lewis and Clark and Me - 2008 Took twelve week sabbatical and traveled the route of Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark's Expedition of 1803-1806.
